Oil diffusers are wonderful wonderful creations. They will allow you to "infuse" your world with fragrance.
It was a simple parrot oil diffuser that launched this little fragrance business. Given to me as a gift from a beloved sister-in-law with a small sampling of fragrance oils. At that time I had a 17 year old son, 3 dogs (one of which was at the end of his years) and I live in the country, believe me "good smells" were a blessing.

This style of diffusers use the heat of a tealight candle to warm the oil/water solution in the glass dish. As the water evaporates it carries the fragrance of the oil all thru your house. Everywhere that there is air flow there will be fragrance.

How I use a diffuser
Add water to the dish to almost full
Add a small amount of fragrance oil (this assumes you are using a quality oil like the ones I blend)
Light the tealight candle

 | | Place your diffuser on a surface that won't be damaged by spilled oil/water
| | | Never leave any candle burning unattended
| | | Don't use candles bigger than a tealight candle
| | | Keep the liquid in the dish at 1/2 or more add water as necessary, only add oil when the fragrance has | | | diminished
| | | Don't add cool water to a hot dish. Set the dish to the side or blow out the candle and let it cool before you | | | add more water.
| | | Always make sure that there is liquid in the dish. A heated dish with no liquid can crack. | | | |

Every diffuser is different and the best way to learn how to use yours is to set aside the first time that you use it for when you can check on it frequently until you get the "feel" for it. I prefer to use my diffusers with an oil & water solution in the dish, it seems to give a truer fragrance for a longer time. The dish must be checked on periodically to ensure that all of the water hasn't evaporated out. I like to add water when the dish has cooked about 1/2 way down. I just keep adding water to the solution and when I feel that the fragrance is getting weak then I add a little bit more oil. Remember you control the ratio of oil to water so that you control the intensity of the fragrance.

Electric Diffusers

If the idea of using a candle doesn't work for you (or perhaps your cat) electric diffusers can be the solution. This style works on a halogen bulb and has a rheostat that allows you to turn it up or down. Simmer pots that work like a small crock pot are another style of electric diffuser.

Lamp Rings
Lamp rings have been used for a long time as a way to fragrance your house. The rings have a furrow into which you put drops of oil. Then place the ring on a regular incandescent bulb ( 40 - 60 watts is ideal )

Candles
Candles that you have that don't have a strong fragrance of their own can be used with your oils. Light your candle and when the candle has formed a pool of wax at the base of the wick add a few drops of your oil.
